Concurrent Solo Exhibitions – Kelly Kopacka and Flavia Lovatelli
Kelly Kopacka of Johns Island invites viewers to step into the enchanting world of DOGVILLE, where dogs reign supreme. In this exhibit, Kopacka presented painted illustrations that come to life in charming shadow boxes filled with found and thrifted trinkets and figurines. Inspired by Joseph Cornell’s dioramas and vintage dollhouses, each scene tells a whimsical story of different canine characters. In her exhibit, A Sculptural Exploration of Coral in Nature, Columbia-based artist Flavia Lovatelli presents paper and wood sculptures that embody the essence of coral and marine life, symbols now imperiled by climate change, plastic pollution, and hazardous waste.
